WE KEEP US SAFE features five intimate portraits into the lives of five activists in the 2020 New York City Black Lives Matter Movement. Illustrated through the work of 23 independent photographers and videographers, the film provides personal journeys of activism in the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Each subject in the film represents a different age group, gender identity, profession, ethnic identity, and reason for participation in the protests. The activists represent a Native American/African American bicyclist, an Ethiopian teacher, a Caucasian yoga instructor, a queer dancer, a Trans leader, and an Afro- Dominican recent college graduate.
WE KEEP US SAFE encourages audiences with focus to high school and college students to discover leadership in themselves and become active in their communities.
