This documentary is observing gentrification and urban heritage in two former working class neighbourhood of Montreal, Canada.
Through a variety of testimonies, the objective is first to study the urban transformations in these two neighbourhoods, more specifically the economic and cultural changes brought about by gentrification.
Then, it is to evaluate the impact of these on material and immaterial memory in these two neighbourhoods.
The aim of this film is to explore the relationship between gentrification and the loss of memory (material and immaterial). In other words, it studies how is memory impacted in a context of major cultural and economic transformations. Is the memory of a neighbourhood used to attract new population ? Is it put forward ? is it forgotten ?
